Okay so I have not updated my blog in just over a month, because well, life has been pretty hectic.

During the last month I have been faced with new challenges, academic and other activities. I currently face three approaching deadlines for essays due this month. Luckily my weakest subject, International Trade Law, is first on the list to hand in, followed by Employment Law and Media & Entertainment Law. Luckily next week is reading week so I can commit to the library for the week and surround myself in books with the hope of completing my first and second essay to a good standard....providing I get my head around this confusing oxford referencing system...complete bore.

I have also been applying for different summer vacation internships for 2017, I think I have only applied for 5 so far due to being very selective as I would prefer to gain experience in a company which deal with Intellectual Property Law or Media & Entertainment Law as these are the areas of law I favor and would like to work in. One in America had a very interesting application process in regards to the questions they ask, 'what makes you awesome?'.....I like the company already.

One thing that I cannot stand with some application processes for law firms are the Situational Judgement Tests. Personally, I believe this is a very lazy way of judging an individuals application and it is sad to see that the internet now has control over employment rather than company's recruiting the old fashioned way and read an Academic CV that a student may have put their time and effort into just for it not to even be considered at this stage of the application. The test has the problem of potentially losing a lot of good applicants, plus if it is a learning position, surely you would be learning how to deal with day to day issues within the workplace by having some guidance from your mentor...urgh, I could rant about this for hours.

Also this month, I have been selected as a Student Representative for my course, I work alongside both students and faculty to promote a better student experience to those studying the course, I will find out more about this job role at training soon. I am also excited to announce that I have become a Student Ambassador and Subject Specialist in Law for Bournemouth University, luckily for me, this is a paid role so that is very helpful.... also... I get a bright pink hoodie to wear as uniform. So far I have helped the University with its events, my first one being a campus guide for the Open Day. This was a very daunting task because I have only just moved here and at one point I was taking to a group of 70 people comprised with both potential students and parents. I did around 7-8 tours this day, I also had to attend a lecture for the potential law students. I was told I did not have to prepare for this however the subject leader called me to the front of the lecture theater to share a few words on my experience at Bournemouth University, so I explained my story of having just transferred from the University of Kent and how I have been loving Bournemouth. My next task as Ambassador is helping with the Graduation this year which I am very excited to be a part of.

FUTURE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TIP: Makes sure you go to a university that suits YOU. No anyone else, YOU. View the universities that you are interested in and pick the place you are most happy, because if you are happy, you will perform well and feel well.

Other than my studies, the last month has had its ups and downs, after the Open Day, I came down with the Flu and was bed bound for over a week. I could not leave my room but I am lucky to have amazing housemates/friends who looked after me the entire week and cooked me fresh chicken noodle soup and brewed me the perfect cup of tea! Now I am better, I can finally crack on with revision and essays. I also have graduation from the University of Kent in two weeks so I also have dress stress, what even is the perfect graduation dress when it is winter?!?! I would rather go in my thermal Ski coat thank-you!!.......actually that is not a bad idea!

Another exciting beginning is that I have finally started learning how to skateboard, anyone who knows me will know how long I have wanted to learn this sport for, I have found that it is a great way to clear your head too after a busy day. Luckily the seafront is a flat area and is a great place to go for a chilled skate with friends.

That is another thing, I do not think I have had this many friends in my life at one time, I was so worried about making friends in Bournemouth but it turns out everyone I have met is great. So I am now learning two new sports/activities; airsofting and skateboarding. Pretty exciting stuff!

I think that is me caught up to date for now! I am off to continue with these essays before I head out for a drink with some friends tonight.

Peace x
