A Fresh Start

It has been two weeks since I moved down to the popular, sunny, English seaside resort, Bournemouth. I have had two weeks to settle into my dorm room and meet my housemates along with getting to grips with my surroundings. This is the first time I have moved away from home and strangely enough, I am not scared, I am actually pretty excited about what my upcoming semester has to offer me!

I have been moving around different Universities for five years now, crazy right? The first two years I was studying at The European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, quite a bit different to law! From college, I thought that going down this route would help me develop a career where I could be closer to my passion of horses by treating them for any body aches or pains. Alas, this was not the right route for me as I found that my heart wasn't in the right place for the subject and I think my maturity also affected my studies. I was a fresh eighteen year old who had just discovered the clubbing scene....need I say more?

I actually failed my first year at the university and then failed my repeat year. It was the most devastating part of my academics. I'm not a stupid person, but my heart was not there, luckily it wasn't the end of the world.

In September 2014, I started my two year HND qualification in Business Marketing with the University of Kent. I had always been a creative person and was always interested in website design and product creation and marketing. In the first year we studied a range of subjects, law happened to be one of them. It soon became very apparent that I was good in this subject and for a change I actually really enjoyed learning the law and solving cases thrown at me. I had never been an academic person to this date so you can imagine my surprise when I realized I was good at one of the most academic subjects in the world.

Going into my second year of the HND, I swapped from the Marketing pathway onto the Law pathway. This was my proudest year to date. I studied Business Law, European Law, Common Law II and the English Legal System, I gained a first (Distinction) in 85% of my essays and a 2:1 overall for my course. This inspired me to follow this career path with the hopes of becoming a Solicitor.

Following my heart, I applied for Bournemouth University to study my final year of the BA (Hons) Law Degree.

As you can probably guess by my introduction, I made it here and I am raring to go for the new semester.

I am super excited to meet my new lecturers and classmates along with joining a few sports and social clubs. I feel more motivated than I ever have as I just want to make myself and my family proud of me for achieving this degree after these few years.

Lets see what this year has in store for me shall we?
